All is fine with the world, then..

BAM. I've been hit with pneumonia and stuck in hospital. It's all very strange to me. I haven't been sick at all. No cough, no runny nose, nothing. I woke up Thursday morning with a severe pain in the right side of my chest. I couldn't breathe properly as the pain was so bad. I had no idea what was going on. My husband came home from work to check me out and we decided to call the ambulance - its the only way to get straight into the ER, otherwise who knows how long you'll sit in the waiting room. I waited eight hours a little while ago with my four year old. She had a gash in her head that needed gluing - a five minute job, an eight hour wait. Totally ridiculous!

On the way in, the paramedic decided I had a pulled muscle in my chest - too much pushing my daughter on the swing the day before! I felt ridiculous being taken to hospital in an ambulance with a pulled muscle! And how on earth could a pulled muscle hurt that much! After blood tests, chest x-rays and a full check over by the doctor {who is my doctor that I trust wholeheartedly} the result was atypical pneumonia. I'm apparently a bit of an enigma as I still have no symptoms apart from the chest pain and a bit of a rattle when I breathe.

So, I'm still in hospital, bored out of my brain. Instagram doesn't cut it when you're checking it every ten minutes. I've read quite a few magazines and the newspapers. I needed a good book. Hopefully I'm out of here tomorrow. Another chest x-ray to make sure my lungs are clearing up, a truck load of antibiotics and more blood tests to make sure everything is heading back to normal and I should be right to be discharged.

Cross your fingers for me xo

  1. No way!! You poor darling. I hope you get better soon, Lauren. x

PS - look at that enormous nose growing out of your leg... I hope it's not critical.

PPS - LOVE the toe ring.

PPPS - But I digress... just get better! x

    1. Thanks Bron. Home today. Still in a little pain, but much better. Just the BEST to be home though.
You are a darling for sending all these beautiful ladies across for well wishes. Truly made me feel better.
P.S. They operated on the nose, and it's no longer joined to my leg ;)

  2. Fingers crossed for a speedy recovery! I'm impressed that your toes look so good in that photo. Had I been caught by surprise like you were, mine would not be ready for a close-up of any kind!

    1. Thank you Allison. Getting there slowly. My toes seem to be always painted lately - luckily! But I was caught unawares and had to have a change before the ambulance arrived - the most painful change of clothes I've ever experienced. :)

  3. Ugh - I agree, hospital is TOTALLY boring. The last time I had an unexpected overnight stay I had my iPad, 3 magazines AND my book and I was still gagging to get out of there.

Fingers crossed you are well enough to go home tomorrow :)

    1. Thanks Kelly. Home today. Seemed the Doctor had better things to do than to come back and discharge me yesterday afternoon. What I really needed was a book that I couldn't stop reading. I was totally unprepared. Thanks for the well wishes. :)
